We started with a single thread. AngHibla was born from two truths we couldn’t ignore.

The first: scattered across the provinces of the Philippines are some of the most gifted artisans in the world — weavers in Ilocos keeping century-old inabel patterns alive, T’boli dreamweavers in Lake Sebu whose t’nalak designs come to them in dreams, piña weavers in Aklan turning pineapple leaves into fabric fit for presidents. Their work is extraordinary. Their reach is not. Most never sell beyond their town market.

The second: millions of Filipinos abroad ache for home in ways that are hard to explain. A balikbayan box can carry chocolates and canned goods — but it rarely carries culture.
